ABOUT US
HOPE Sanger is a multi-denominational faith based non-profit community 501 c 3 organization established to provide food and other necessities to the homeless and families in most need of Sanger.  Initially, the organization focused on preparing and delivering meals every Saturday to the homeless and others in need.  However, in response to a growing increase in homeless individuals in our city we acquired a motel and converted it into an emergency temporary stay housing option for families and individuals that are homeless. Since our inception in 2010 we have served numerous individuals and plan to continue to grow wraparound services for homeless individuals, families and children.

COMMUNITY NEED

Sanger is the third largest city in Fresno County with approximately 25,000 residents and has increased its population by 40% since the 2000 census. Parallel to this population growth has been an increase in challenges faced in other larger cities including homelessness, unemployment, gang-related activity and substance abuse. By Census standards nearly 1 in 3 residents is living in poverty in this largely farm working and agricultural community. The rural nature of our community along with the lack of regular public transportation to larger cities that have robust social services such as Fresno, has deepened the need for services located in the City of Sanger. Additionally, prior to HOPE Sanger's management of the motel, the building was a neighborhood crime and drug hotspot that impacted the surrounding health and stability of the largely working-class community that surrounds it.
